In this artwork from my series on systems of control, I examine the evolving relationship between currency, digital media, and human perception. The piece explores how currency symbols and the ornate patterns of banknote design reflect society’s obsession with wealth, while also pointing toward a transition into abstract digital systems of power shaped by media consumption and constant screen engagement.
The image layers decorative floral motifs—reminiscent of security patterns found in financial documents—against a dramatic, otherworldly sky. A beam of light descends through intricate cloud formations, illuminating a human face emerging from darkness. This celestial shaft, infused with extraterrestrial energy, symbolizes both surveillance and transcendence, suggesting that technology’s gaze is as omnipresent as it is inescapable.
The composition blends analog craftsmanship with digital precision: floral ornamentation nods to the tactile past of printed currency, while the linear, grid-like structures reference circuit boards and data networks. By merging the natural forms of clouds with engineered patterns of control, the work questions the boundaries between nature, humanity, and machine governance.
