This piece is an abstraction on imagined floating concrete forms in outer space, and a victorian wrought iron pattern with ivy vines growing throughout.
I have been working through iterations of these floating concrete cubes in outer space the past few years. I imagine them as sort of brutalist buildings floating in the cosmos. The vine pattern and lattice grid comes from entrapment through refinement.
The Goddard Library at Clark University, raised up on its concrete pillars, lifting off the ground on rocket boosters, is a vision I once imagined as a student artist at the time, and an image that has stuck with me through time.
