Roze Hokjes

Abstract mixed-media artwork with layered black, white, and cobalt blue gestural marks arranged in a gridded, architectural composition, exhibited in a 2019 mail art exhibition in the Netherlands.

This abstract mixed-media artwork was exhibited as part of the Mailart Project: Roze Hokjes exhibition at Galerie TUUR, on view from February to June 2019. The composition features layered black linework, white negative space, and vivid cobalt blue gestural forms arranged within a rigid, architectural grid. The interplay between structure and improvisation reflects themes common to mail art and process-based printmaking, where repetition, circulation, and material traces become central to meaning. The work balances diagrammatic precision with expressive mark-making, evoking both mapping systems and abstract landscapes while emphasizing the tactile, handmade qualities of ink and print on paper.
